PFRA inputs

Enter sex, age, event choices, and results. Scoring follows the March 2026 USAF PFRA charts (DAFMAN 36-2905). Age band used: 25–29.

Maps to official age-group scoring tables.

Minutes and seconds.

Natural waist — typically just above the navel.

Feet and inches.

Your AF PT result

Composite out of 100: cardio 50, body composition 20, strength 15, core 15. Pass needs 75+ and every component minimum.

What is an AF PT calculator?

An AF PT calculator (Air Force Physical Training / Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment calculator) estimates your USAF PFRA composite score before test day. Under DAFMAN 36-2905 standards effective 1 March 2026, the test totals 100 points: cardio 50, body composition (WHtR) 20, muscular strength 15, and core endurance 15.

Enter sex, age, event choices, and results. This tool maps performance to the published scoring charts so you can see component points, pass/fail against minimums, and Excellent / Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory categories. It is for training and planning — not an official FAC score.

Who uses it

Active-duty, Guard, and Reserve Airmen, AFROTC / BMT candidates, and UFPMs doing informal “what-if” planning before a scheduled assessment.

Pass rules

Composite ≥ 75 and every component minimum: strength and core ≥ 2.5, cardio ≥ 35, WHtR ≤ 0.59. Miss one floor and the test fails even with a high total.

Score tiers

Excellent 90–100 (typically 12-month cycle), Satisfactory 75–89.9 (typically 6 months), Unsatisfactory below 75 or any failed component (FIP / retest per commander).

Event options

Push-ups or hand-release; sit-ups, reverse crunch, or plank; 2-mile run, HAMR, or approved 2 km walk; WHtR for body composition on every test.

How to use this AF PT calculator

Follow these steps for a clear March 2026 PFRA estimate.

  1. Choose sex and ageAge selects the official scoring band (Under 25 through 60 and over). Sex selects the matching table for strength, core, and cardio.
  2. Pick your authorized eventsMatch what your installation will score — for example hand-release push-ups and forearm plank, or standard push-ups and sit-ups.
  3. Enter performance and body measurementsReps or plank time, run/HAMR/walk result, waist inches, and height in feet and inches for WHtR.
  4. Calculate and compareReview component points, composite, category, and fail reasons. Recalculate as you change events or training targets.

How 2026 AF PT scoring works

Point caps and typical minimums under the current PFRA model:

ComponentMax pointsTypical minimumCommon events
Cardiorespiratory5035 points2-mile run, 20 m HAMR, 2 km walk*
Body composition202.5 pts (WHtR ≤ 0.59)Waist ÷ height (universal table)
Muscular strength152.5 pointsPush-ups or hand-release push-ups
Core endurance152.5 pointsSit-ups, reverse crunch, or plank

*2 km walk requires medical justification and awards 35 points on pass only.

Accuracy of the results

Charts are modeled on AFPC PFRA scoring tables effective 1 March 2026. Results are educational estimates for US Airmen — always verify with your UFPM. Scoring tables are published in the official USAF PFRA scoring charts (AFPC).

What it models well

  • Age- and sex-specific strength, core, and cardio bands
  • Universal WHtR body-composition scoring
  • Component minimums and composite pass/fail
  • Excellent / Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory categories

What can change the real outcome

  • Rep form, grader calls, and course conditions
  • Unit-authorized event options and medical exemptions
  • Chart updates or local FAC procedures after publication
  • AFSPECWAR / EOD or other specialty standards

AF PT calculator FAQs

Common questions about the USAF PFRA and this tool.

What is an AF PT calculator?

An AF PT calculator estimates your U.S. Air Force Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment score from sex, age, events, and performance. It applies the published point tables so you can plan training before test day. Official scores still come from your Fitness Assessment Cell and myFitness.

What is a passing score on the Air Force PT test?

You need a composite of at least 75 out of 100 and you must meet every component minimum. Strength and core need at least 2.5 points, cardio needs at least 35, and WHtR must be 0.59 or below. Failing any minimum fails the whole test even if the total is 75+.

How often do you take the AF PT test?

Excellent (90+) usually means a 12-month cycle; Satisfactory (75–89.9) usually means every 6 months. Unsatisfactory scores enter FIP with a commander-set retest window. Confirm due dates with your UFPM.

What events can I choose on the 2026 PFRA?

Strength: push-ups or hand-release push-ups. Core: sit-ups, cross-leg reverse crunch, or forearm plank. Cardio: 2-mile run, 20 m HAMR, or an approved 2 km walk. Body composition is always WHtR. Use only options your installation authorizes.

What is WHtR on the Air Force PT test?

Waist-to-height ratio is waist ÷ height in the same unit, worth up to 20 points on a universal table. Lower is better. 0.59 earns the 2.5-point minimum; 0.60 or higher scores zero and fails body composition.

Are standards the same for every age and sex?

No. Strength, core, and cardio charts differ by sex and age group. WHtR is the same for everyone. Always use the table that matches your profile.

Is this AF PT calculator official?

No. It is an unofficial estimate based on published March 2026 PFRA charts. Your FAC / UFPM process and DAFMAN 36-2905 govern duty status. Treat calculator output as directional only.

What happens if you fail the Air Force PT test?

An Unsatisfactory result is documented and typically triggers a Fitness Improvement Program and retest window. Repeated failures can bring counseling, reprimands, or further administrative action per unit and Air Force policy.
